Well, I heard some rumors that the next gen iPad will get a USB port... So I wad wondering if the people with the 1st gen iPad would be able to get an accessory that plugs in to the charging port (like the keyboard dock) that has a USB port that is compatible with whatever new software allows it.

I hope my inquiry isn't too confusing... But thanks in advance for any speculation.

Where did you hear these rumors? Personally, I don't see a need for USB ports.

The camera connection kit already provides what you are describing.

There already IS an accessory that supports USB devices. It's called the iPad Camera Connection Kit.

Other than just cameras, you can plug in Bluetooth headsets, wired keyboards, and other iDevices, such as iPods and iPhones.
