Do I need the Apple one, or can I use any cheap one? For some reason, the cheap one I tried today didnt do anything......it flashed but nothing changed on the Touch (battery icon didnt look like it was charging).

Also, if I take a UK 3 pin USB charger to the USA with an adapter, will it charge OK?

The link you posted.....in the reviews, many of the purchasers state it does not charge their Ipod......

Ive seen a few more of these, and it looks like they have dfferent power outputages eg 500mA, output voltage : 5V ..........some have 1000mA, some have 5.8V. I'll go see if I can find what the Touch likes......any one any idea?

You can pretty much use any one as long as it supports the ipod touch...

I had one for my ipod nano... and it charged that and then i went to charge my ipod touch and it doesn't support it.....

    So, bummer....

But yeah, just check the specifications of the charger and make sure it supports the ipod touch
