So sometimes I use a USB extension cable with a wall outlet and an apply sync cable to charge my iPod touc 4G. The iPod repeatedly complains about this with "Charging is not supported with this accessory", it will also often just change to "plugged in but not charging" mode and drain flat overnight. This only happens with the USB extension cable, which charges all my other USB devices without a hitch. It is a standard USB 2.0 cable, nothing special or interesting about it. Can anyone help me? Regards -- Kaelan
Apple has placed restrictions that attempt to block you from using a third-party charger. It's marketing, sorry. Try using a different charger, it works with most.
Either that, or you charger has amperage, voltage or wattage shortage issues. Lesser than a certain amount, error pops up. Most likely not "charger not supported" issue because, if it is not supported, or does not have the required chips, nothing would appear anyway.
There are almost mobile users are complaining for their usb extension. I have a samsung smartphone and problem is that they have give me a short cable so i have to put it with my cpu so now a need has been come to buy a new long usb cable but i hope mobile companies will give us comfortable usb extension.
Oh, wait, misread the post. Anyway, the extension cable may be leaking amperage, voltage or wattage. Lesser than a certain amount, the iDevice starts complaining and says not chargeable. Find a better quality cable.
Okay that makes sense, I had it plugged into my PC yesterday and it complained, and I know that USB port can pull a half amp easy. (I was measuring current supplied to a floppy powered by an arduino hooked up to my PC)
