SO yeah i bought a USB extension cable to plug my ipod usb cable into and plug the extension into the comp. I plug it all in, the ipod goes into charge mode and makes the charging sound, then i check it later and it completely drains the entire battery. It's not until i remove the extension and charge it by putting the ipod USB cable directly into the USB port in my computer that it properly charges.

Why does the USB extension drain power from the ipod but not draw enough to charge it?

If you charge your iPod beyond the charging point (leaving it plugged in) for an extended period of time, for some reason it drains. This is true and has been found with other users.

The extra power being used to transmit and receive across a greater distance may also effect it but I don't think this would happen unless your cable is 10+ feet long
