I have a rather different question:

I recently plugged in my 1G iPod touch into my computer and it went mad and completely died while the computer gave me the message, "USB Device Not Recognized". I looked everywhere for every method possible for fixing it and nothing worked. That said, I've been given the task of jailbreaking another ipod and I'm quite afraid to plug it into my Vista laptop, as the previous ipod had died when I plugged it into the very same port. The question is this: Will the same thing happen to the second iPod touch (2G)? Is it the laptop causing the problem, or is the root of the failure on the iDevice itself?

i think its safe to jailbreak that 2G iPod. It seems that most of the 1G's f*** up now.. a lot. but idk, don't blame me if it dies, just saying that i would try it.

i would also do it because it is old and it was probs a hardware problem with the ipod so new 1 will be fine
