US bought Ipod touch - will it work in the UK

    Anyone from the UK know that if I bought an Ipod touch or even an Iphone 3G in America if it would work in the UK OK -Wifi etc Eg Iphone UK £400 Iphone US $199 (£150) you do the math

    Sorry to seem dumb but not a technogeek

    No offence to all the techo heads out there

    it would all work.. every device is made to work anywhere it is shipped to.. you can buy an ipod in the us and go to japan and it would work.. its made to work anywhere basically

    Hi - no this is my worry that the Wifi / Net frequencies or settings would not be compatible. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of this

    @PlasticPenguin: I think the iTunes store can be changed depending on the location one specifies in settings.

    im shure the iphone is not just $199 stand alone, as i live in the UK also im not to shure, but i think i read before, its not like £150/$199 on 'pay as you go'

    Yeah as with all things that look too good to be true it is.

    $199 is only if you sign up to AT&T contract so hopeless no need for it

    Even tried France where it is illegal to insist on selling phones with a contract ! So surprise surprise you can buy an Iphone 3G not tied to any network but it costs approx £450-£500 - same as the UK

    Ah well at least I tried
