I'm about to jailbreak my iPhone 3G 3.1.2 with black rain but I have a few questions.

Is it necessary to do a restore to 3.1.2 if I'm already on it? And if I do restore will I lose my contacts (phone numbers, etc) or text messages. Also is it possible to jailbreak with black rain? I just got my 3G brand new last saturday so I just want to make sure hte newer models of the 3G are jailbreakable.

Also I don't want to unlock my phone or mess it up, is black rain just going to do a straight up jailbreak and that's it?

Thanks, sorry if I'm being a noob

Do I have to restore to 3.1.2 before I do it?

    It says

This application has failed to start because QTCF.DLL could not be found. When I double click blackrain.exe

Thanks, now its fixed. I'm going to go ahead and shift click restore to 3.1.2 from my current 3.1.2 so I have a fresh install to avoid issues.

Perfect done, thanks a ton! I haven't jailbroken a device since the 1.1.x days, I see its gotten amazingly easier that is why I was so hesitant, before it took like an hour to jailbreak, now like under a minute.
