I have had an iPod touch 1G for as long as I can remember, and I haven't updated it because I refuse to give iTunes my credit details and hence I have no iTunes store account.

Today, I decided to download the firmwares off the internet and manually upgrade the firmware. However, I tried first with the 3.0 upgrade, and it can't work. My iPod touch got stuck in DFU mode.

It might be a stupid question, and pardon me for it, but is there any way I can get a download of the entire package from 1.1.5 to 3.0 or do I have to individually download the respective updates? Because as of now,I see 7 potential updates of 200+ MB files which could take up to 2 hours each because i'm in Asia.

    Help, anyone?

You don't have to give iTunes your credit details, you can just set up an account where you pay through iTunes cards. After you make an account, download the 3.0 firmware legally through iTunes, which costs 5$. Then DFU and upgrade.
