Can you upgrade a jailbroken v 1.1.1 to v 1.1.2 without restoring ipod touch first?
there is a tutorial about this and it is sticky.
first you need to install oktoprep from the installer (tweak 1.1.1 section).
if you want to keep your setting of your application you have to move the application folder and create a simlink, there is also a tutorial for this.
now you are good to update your ipod using itune. after the update download and use the program made by the dev team to jailbreak your ipod with 1.1.2 firmware.
this is just a short description. you should check the tutorial to have better explanation about the 1.1.2 jailbreak.
If you update to 1.1.2 and you do not simlink all your aps.
will they be deleted by the update?
or just unaccessable?
well I think that if you do not simlink you apps they will be gone. Now if you changed their location they should still be on you ipod but unaccessable until you jailbreak your ipod. Then I guess you can keep all your settings from your mail app for example.
in my case I started from a fresh ipod so anyone else to confirm ?
I started out with my jailbroken v1.1.1. I didn't restore. I simply installed oktoprep, updated to 1.1.2 and jailbroke. I then used installer to add http://repo.us.to as a source and reinstalled the iphone apps. Once I did this, all of my settings were still there! Emails, notes, weather settings, everything!!! The media_sym is just a link to your root directory from what I understand.
But I don't care about the apps OR the settings.
Why I wanna know it is:
If I jailbreak.
and the aps STAY at there place, but become unusable.
It takes space.
and the Ipod doens't have much space, and I don't feel the need for expanding the 3the apps space.
So that is why I wonder.
So just delete the apps and then jailbreak.
An option two,
BUT i am not the computer geek guy,
so I realy don't know anythnig, just wanna have fun with my touch and not trash anything known whut I'm sayin?
But I'm gonna upgrade with everything still on my touch, lets see what happens.
