Okay so I'm following all of the YouTube guides on how to upgrade my iPod Touch 1G for free.

I did all of the shift clicking and what have you, 16 or 17 times.

    I keep getting a stupid 1601 error.

When I try to put it into DFU mode, it gives me the same error and then throws me into recovery where I have to recover my iPod again.

Is there any fix for this?

    Am I doing something wrong?

I normally would buy the firmware update, but I'm sick of Apple's ten dollar bullsh*t.

I paid ten bucks for the 2.0 firmware update, and I've given them $1,000 dollars over the past five years.

I think I deserve a bit better than that.

So please community, help me out ;]

No one will help you pirate here.

Just click the update and pay like everyone else.

    I'm not trying to pirate.

I already have the firmware, I'm just trying to install it.

Besides, why should I have to pay for an update that should be free?

Apple already has a lot of my money.

You did pirate if you already have the firmware and didn't pay for it?

Because the developers put in the man hours so you and millions of other people can have a newer OS.

I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say.

I already pirated it, so I'm not asking for it. I'm just asking for directions on how to install the pirated version.

I already paid $300 for the iPod it's self.

Why should I have to pay any more than that?

Look, you obviously don't have the information that I want.

I have a better argument than you do.

    You can't win.

So please kind sir, go troll somewhere else.

Point being, I shouldn't have to pay anymore money than I already have.

They're a multi-billion dollar company, they should just release the firmware out for free.

    Your point being?

Just because you say that the firmware has to be free doesn't mean Apple will make it free.

You should pay because the Developers put in hours of their time to make it, just like the reason games and apps cost money, because devs put in time to make it, so you can be happy

How does that logic figure? You paid Apple yes? And you got something in return. You paid for goods and services. You got what you paid for. Why should Apple give you any extra just because you purchased what you got from them? Stop Bawwing. Paying for goods and services doesn't entitle you to get free stuff for no apparent reason.

    Pay for the firmware.

You pay X amount of money for your computer. If you want a new version of your OS, as in XP to Vista to 7 or Tiger to Leopard to Snow Leopard, do you get it for Free? I don't think so.

Yeah but everything in the 3.0 should have been on the iPod when I first bought it last year.

And explain to me, why is it free for the iPhone and no the iPod?

    I'm not paying for sh*t.

In fact, I'm buying a Zune.

I'm not putting up with this bullsh*t.

    Says who? Says what?
Do you pay a service plan for the iPod touch? You buy the iPod touch full price unsubsidized. Whereas the iPhone is the opposite.

There's a joke there. Involving prisoners. Instead of feces, its something else. Use your imagination.

YAY! One less baby to deal with
