howdy - bit of a noob so go ahead and facepalm... sorry to post this, but i've done a bunch of searching and i can't quite find the answers i'm looking for...

have a Jailbroken 1.1.4 via iLiberty on WinXP.
    Love this guide: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92404
and want to upgrade to the latest n greatest.

    But have a few questions:
i have procured the iPod1_1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw file (223,409,573 bytes) and the iPod1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw file (258,201,218 bytes)

1/ do i need to upgrade my iPod to this firmware (2.0.2) using the iTunes shift-update technique BEFORE proceeding with anything else? Ie. do i update to 2.0.2 then use winpwn/quickpwn to jailbreak?
2/ will doing this erase all the apps, music, etc (ie wipe) my ipod?
3/ the headings are all WinPwn Restore Needed, QuickPwn no restore needed. How do i know which method to use?

thanks in advance and sorry to ask such benign questions.

    cheers, ynot2k

    1. Yes
    2. Yes, it will delete everything
    3. I would restore either way you go.

    You're joking, right?

1.i would recommend jailbreaking 2.2.1, since it is the latest firmware, but 2.0 is okay too. Yes, restoring through itunes is the first thing you want to do.
    2. Yes it will, but if you have them in itunes, you can easilly sync them back on. [you shouldnt restore to a backup, and also, once you restore, dont set up you ipod first. Close itunes, and use quickpwn to jailbreak. THEN put all you music back on.]
    3. It is highly recommended if not needed to restore before a jailbreak.

    hope that helps.

No I'm not joking! 1.1.4 is probably better! I mean like the old installer kicked a** and the new one sucks

Tap Tap Revolution isn't on Cydia

    Summerboard was better than Winterboard

    And many more reasons.....
