Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my jailbroken 1st gen iPod touch from firmware 1.1.4 to 2.0.0 or later firmware. However, I've put a lot o work into customizing my iPod just the way I want it. So my question is, what's the best way to backup most, if not all, of my iPod? I've looked for iBackup and can't find it, and am undecided on whether iPranks would work.
Any help will be much appreciated.

All those goodies won't work on 2.x firmware anyway so just worry about music and vids.

Are you sure? Invisible tapper, iphpPod, MxTube, Categories. etc. won't work?

    Most of those will.
But they aren't as good as they were on 1.1.x

Invisible tapper is irrelevant; if it's JB'ed, you can change the slider

iphpPod is just retarded, but I think it's ported anyways

    MxTube is ported

    Categories is ported

Apps taken from a 1.1.x iPod and put on a 2.x iPod won't work, but most apps are ported and in Cydia.

    Alright, thanks for the info.
What's the risk factor in jailbreaking a 2.0.x iPod touch? You use the Pwnage Tool right?

You cannot brick an iPod touch.

You use QuickPwn from http://blog.iphone-dev.org, and there is no risk; it's quite straightforward.

im thinking about to update my 1.1.4 itouch to the newest version as well. but i dont want to lose any stuff( like games, music and emulator games ).
my reason for the update is i hope emulator games will run better and i will see the newest update for gpsphone in cydia(which i do actually not see).
    what do you think?

I think that you should definitely upgrade.

All your apps will be lost in the upgrade, but most apps that people loved from 1.1.x have been ported. Emulators runs well.

To backup music, download TuneAid and copy music.

To backup ROMs, SSH to /var/mobile/Media and copy the ROMs folder to your computer.
