Just a super quick question - having never upgraded firmware before, when you upgrade firmware on a 1G Touch (1.1.5 - 2.0) does it wipe all music and photos? Is there any way to prevent it from wiping all?

    Thanks!

it shouldnt unless you restore. which if your ipod is jailbroken you have to restore before you upgrade therefore losing music ect. but it wont be deleted off of itunes so you can always just sync your ipod again after the update

No, but plan on jailbreaking once it's at 2.1.
    This isn't my iPod, it's a friend's.

    So going from 1.1.5 - 2.0 and then 2.0 - 2.1 won't delete any of the songs?
And does jailbreaking wipe the songs then?

EDIT: Poster above answered my question while I was posting this.

Only if you're jailbroken, other than that setting and media stay the way the were before.
