I just bought an iPhone 2G off of eBay for a great price, but then afterwards saw that it was running firmware 1.2.2. Is there any way to upgrade to 2.0+ without losing my jailbreak or unlock? Or will I have to re-jailbreak/unlock it with QuickPWN?

heres what u do. use quickpwn to get up to 2.2 firmware.. of course u'll have to get the IPSW file.. but u could find that here on the forums.. now u'll have to look this up exactly, but u have to create a custom 2.2.1 firmware that will preserve ur 2.2 baseband.. at the moment. if u just upgrade to 2.2.1, u can't unlock. but if ur on 2.2 u can unlock. so i'd youtube it.. and see.. the new version of quickpwn preserve ur stuff.

I thought that was only true for the 3G, and that the 2G could still be unlocked even at 2.2.1. Correct me if I'm wrong (I usually am).

    You are sort of correct.....

You still have to use a custom firmware; but unlike the 3G it is not a problem if it gets the latest update. The 2G's baseband can be downgraded.
