For those of you on 3.1.2, with No SHSH blobs backed up and you need a restore, AND you need an unlock, this is where you need to come.

So your probably thinking I'm going to say do the "pull the plug" trick. NO. That's a terrible idea. MuscleNerd pointed out that this could brick the baseband forever, if your timing was off. His suggestion was to remove the LLB.

    So to get started,

Instead of iRecovery or rslite, you could just use iH8sn0w's recovery mode fixer. But this will put you onto 3.1.3 with your preserved baseband

! No negative effects have surfaced yet. And much safer than unplugging your iPhone during a restore...

I have a 3GS currently on 3.1.2 (05.11.07 baseband). I was considering upgrading to 3.1.3, but I figure I'll stay where I am for now just to avoid any possible problems. When I sell my phone in a month or so, I do want to restore 3.1.2 without updating the baseband if I can. If I just do a plain old shift+click restore with the 3.1.2 ipsw, will it change my baseband?

not if you restore to 3.1.2... make sure you have your SHSH sigs backed up either by yourself(use TinyTSS to host them to iTunes) or have them on Saurik's server. Then you wont be forced onto 3.1.3 and have your Baseband upgraded.

Which is the reason why I will not attempt this ^

It seems a bit risky as it could mess up.

Try putting it into DFU and try.

Also, does iTunes detect your iPhone? Windows Beep any recognition at all?
