How would I go about doing this? With 4.0 comming out soon and I'm buying a 3G off my friend.. How would I upgrade to 4.0 and preserve the baseband?(His which is at 5.11.07 and mine which is at 5.12.01)?

Wait for a new version of pwnage tool to come out and restore to a custom firmware that preserves the baseband

but is there anything else I could do? Besides wait? Because I'll have this phone before 4.0 (Probably) and I want to have my content on it.

You can erase and sync the iPod without touching the firmware. Just never upgrade with a stock firmware if you want to preserve the baseband

iPhone... And it's alright, I found this tweeted by comex, apparently removing the LLB from the firmware file will be able to restore to a new firmware and still save my baseband.
