Updating from 2.1

    Hi everyone

    I have been out of the loop for about a year now, so I still have 2.1 (jailbroken on ipod touch 1g), but I want to update to 3.1.2...

    Now I assume these are the steps:
    1) restore up to 3.1.2 using DFU mode (wiping all data)
    2) jailbreak 3.1.2 with redsnow?

    Can I just check that this is correct, as I don't want to ruin my ipod

    You should be able to do that or PwnageTool.

    I would also wait for one more response to confirm. :p

    Apple stopped signing 3.1.2 so I don't think you can do that. Redsnow may work, but you should wait for a few more responses.

    I just read the iPhone Dev Team's blog.

    You can create a custom .IPSW for 3.1.3 and restore to that.
    It's only for OS X, though...
