updated firmware and error

    one of my sons has a 2g ipod touch which hasn't been jailbroken (unlike his brothers) yesterday he wanted to update his firmware to 3.1.3 he started to update then an error appeared and he was asked to restore he just kept getting an error 1603 i'm not entirely sure what he done to it but i got it to work (restore) but now it says the same thing about needing new firmware will he have already paid for this yesterday and will he have to pay again or will it as it didnt go through the full process etc... will it not of updated

    i dont want to do anything until i can find the info out or he can check his bank etc... if it is gonna charge him twice is it worth contacting apple to have a moan..

    I had the same problem a while back when I was updating to 3.1.2.
    Calm down. What you have to do is download a firmware from some website. Then hold down Shift if your using windows and click restore. Locate the firmware you downloaded and it will restore to that firmware and you'll be just fine.
