if i want to keep all my info on my ipod can i update to 3.0 from 2.2.1 jailbroken. Then back it up then restore back to 3.0 so i have all my room back and i can restore from a back up. I heard that if you update from jailbroken that it keeps 500 mb of other.

If you're JailBroken on 2.2.1, I would suggest you make sure ALL your icons are visible (un-poof'd), all your themes are unchecked (in Winterboard), and any sort of modification returned to stock....then when you update to 3.0 from a backup, you should be okay. If you update while running themes, mods and JailBroken apps, you can run into issues, and then you'll have to update as a NEW iPod (starting fresh), that will not be good.

People are having all sorts of weird issues when updating from 2.2.1 to 3.0 with a JailBroken...do the above, and you 'should' be okay.
