iPhone 4 Unlock help on Virgin Mobile?

    I could never find real instructions to this, so can someone help me? My friend wants to unlock his iPhone 4 to virgin mobile without buying a whole new iPhone for his plan.

    iPhone 4
    iOS 5.1
    Baseband 04.12.01
    Then I have serial # but won't post. If its necessary I have it :)

    Is this possible? Thanks :)

    this iphone is an att model; if we send it away to have the BB chip or whatever replaced, would virgin mobile work on this?
