Ok so I jailbroke my iPod and I backedit up with iTunes.
Then my bro got a touch and he backed up with my data.
On my iPod I had a feature from sbsettings that put the battery percentage at the top
when my bro backed up with my data, he had the percentage at the top too!
His was 3.1.3 and not jailbroken and he had a jailbroken feature.
    Weird eh?

This was because he restored from your backup, which kept your modified files.

When you backup it keeps the modded files. But just those because it actually modifies the files. Same if you used MiM.

Whoa, so you could get SOME jailbroken features on an official firmware? What else could be done?

That's about it I believe, but thats because you edited system files, and used those as the backup files.

No, just simple things like plist edits for the status bar and whatnot. Things on a more massive level don't get copied down in a backup because they are changed by the upgrade/restore to a newer firmware, basically the areas we really weren't intended to edit aren't copied.
