Today I decided to unjailbreak my 2nd generation iPod touch. I left apps in Categories figuring it won't be a problem. I backed it up, restored, updated from the back up, and now I turn it on. I only have a few apps (the only ones I didn't have in Categories.) I figure iTunes didn't recognize Categories and didn't sync the apps that were inside Categories, but I checked in the sync list and I have about 100 apps checked off (the same ones I had before I unjailbroke.) How can I get them back?

i think they might be there but just hidden..i think...
try to go to settings, enable restrictions, then disable them. that should make them reappear if they were hidden.

Thanks! It worked. Now I remember the time I was randomly changing settings and my categories exploded.

You have to do this :
restore won't help so you have to delete your iPod via settings!!
That's THE only way to get it back!

Get SBSettings, then unHide all of your icons.

I had the same problem but my own solution was to redownload categories and put the apps back to to the folders, then take em out an delete them.

But wynd's sugestion seems to have worked for me, thanks.
