    Hey there!
I've been having some issues trying to do a simple upgrade...

I've got a iPod Touch 3G (MC model) on FW 3.1.2 and jailbroken with blackra1n. I'm trying to jilabreak with Spirit, but I need to first restore, THEN jailbreak.

I've backuped everything I need, and I've tried to restore through iTunes. However, I've downloaded the 3.1.3 FW, and after iTunes verifies with their servers, it won't let me restore to 3.1.3 because apparently 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build'.

Anyone know a way that I can upgrade/restore to 3.1.3, since I don't really want to upgrade to 4.0...

    Thanks in advance!

You can't without SHSH Blobs. Go to 4.0.2, or stay on 3.1.2

Okay, Cydia says that I have SHSH blobs for versions 3.1.2, 3.1.3. Is those the blobs I need to use or are there other blobs I need to use?

Yes. You need to add Cydia to the iTunes hostlist. (just look for a Tutorial here on iptf.com) and Then Shift+Restore

Sorry to be a pain, but I've searched for tutorials on adding Cydia to the iTunes hostlist, and nothing came up. Is it under a different name?

go to c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/ open the "hosts" file with notepad. add "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" at the end.

i have the same problem and thinking of upgrading to 4.0.2.

if i want to upgrade, do i really have to put my itouch on dfu mode? cause months ago my friend (with the same firmware and jailbroken with blackra1n too except it’s 32GB) put it on dfu mode, and it’s stuck right there. and it can't get out from dfu mode

    i need answers soon. help!

btw i'm done upgrading my itouch few days ago. it's 4.0 and jailbroken now.

you can upgrade if you have saved ur SHSH. or if u haven't, use tinyumbrella to save ur SHSH.

after u save then go dfu mode then restore. and done
