    Hi,

Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong place. Let me know if it is and I'll delete it and post in the correct place. And if this subject has been solved already then could you point me in the right direction as I cant get the search working.

    My ipod touch details are:

    Ipod: Ipod Touch 3rd Generation
    Model No: A1318
    Version: iOS 4.0 (8A293)
    Capacity: 32GB
    Model: MC008BT
    Serial Number: 1C942PKM6K2
    Operating System: Windows 7 (64-Bit)

I'd initially like to know if it's even possible to jailbreak this model. Because if not, I'll quit now and won't waste anymore time. But if it is possible, then maybe you can help me with the following problem:

    I downloaded the following-

    iPod3,1_4.0_8A293_Restore (GM Version)

And upgraded my ipod to this - although it was already on itunes anyway.

Then I downloaded Redsnow version 0.9.5.

I followed the instructions and got stuck quite quickly. I ran Redsnow and clicked browse (it never asked me about whether I had an MC model). I clicked the ipsw file. And then it says "Processing Firmware". Until it then says "unable to recognize specified ispw".

I have tried various Redsnow versions and none work.Any ideas?

    Thanks
  2. redsn0w is currently unable to jailbreak iPod Touch 3rd gens, but a jailbreak is comming soon

I hate to contradict but the dev team wiki for redsn0w seems to indicate that at least a tethered jailbreak is currently available:

    http://wikee.iphwn.org/howto:rs9

"What devices, platforms, and FW versions are supported?

    This release supports:
-All iPhones and iPod touches (still a tethered-only JB for late-model devices though)"

I ask for clarification because I face the same quandary as gavstan.
