I just sent my 1g 16gig ipod touch to apple to be fixed for a screen problem.

In my time without it, I decided it'd be a good idea to sell the refurb I'm getting back and get a 2g.

So I did, I bought the 2g and it's on its way.

Now, the refurb is on its way... BUT... I think that it's going to have the same engraving that my original did, which includes my name and phone number.

This, of course isn't a problem for potential buyers that intend to keep it in a case. But, this isn't how I wanted things to work out. What do you think I should do?

Why would you put your name and number on the back? It knocks the selling price so much

The original was a gift, I didn't engrave it

Why did you choose that topic title??? I don't understand it...

    Did I understand your story?
You bought a 2G of the money you HOPE to get soon by selling your 1G which has an engraving on its back?

I'd try to sell to a friend so that won't become a problem. Or you try to find a way to get that back plate replaced by a "normal" one.

Btw: Did you really think they'll replace the back plate when changing the SCREEN?

I did my research. They are not replacing my iPod's screen, instead, they send me a prepared, refurbished one.

I just didn't know they'd take that refurbished one and engrave it.

Because, for instance, if I had gone to an apple store, I would've just gotten one out of a drawer.

Unfortunately, there isn't one within 200 miles of where I live, so I had to send it off

Hmm I don't think Apple has that much 1Gs lying around. But who cares chances are huge to get an engraved one back (think what would happen if you WANT it and they'd send you one without it)... I hope you'll find someone who spends enough money apart from the engraving.

So are you saying the refurb 1g you want to sell is engraved with your name and phone number?!

Apple are actually doing a better job, most people would be really pleased that they are re-engraving it

    Yep. Most would want that.

Also, it's not completely impossible that you'll get an engraved 2G back. Apple isn't going to have 1G's forever.
