ok so i was running Run RS and i wanted to update to untethered so i patched the ISPW however my ipod would not go in to dfu mode so i couldn't upload the dfu patch so i did it all from recovery mode and itunes denied my ispw after about halfway so now my ipod will go in to recovery mode but i cannot boot it with run RS and i get an error if i try to restore with the original firmware.

Does anybody know how to get it in to DFU mode when ever i try it just boots recovery.

Dude, you're not, I had this problem too.

After failing, boot into dfu, send ibss211.dfu, send redsn0w, then enter
    irecovery -s
    setenv auto-boot true

then reboot, just let it go to its normal recovery logo,
then enter the rs commands that you first sent when you jailbroke with run rs, then type "run rs"
