i just read something on ubuntu's site, and i am not a very tech savy user when it comes to how the ipod os or ubuntu os works, but i just noticed they are working on ubuntu on arm processor machines, and don't know if this is for the mobile or not, but i thought i would throw that out there, and if it sounds n00by, i used the search function before posting to see if anyone had said something about this, but i suck at searching so idk if theres one thtat i may have missed, so dont judge me me. anyways heres a link for the arm support page:

    -.-

Shadowriver, might I first point out that it's much easier to rebuke someone when proper grammar and spelling is used. Further more, I'd like to argue that the iPhone and the iPod Touch can be quite comparable to an eMac from the early '90s, as it's specifications can compete - (400 Mhz ARM processor, 128 MB RAM, etc.) It could possibly run Xubuntu, since the X-Server GUI is less resource heavy on that distro. o.o

Might I point out that not everyone speaks English as a main language.

Um...all *nix GUIs run the X11 server. The X in Xubuntu stands for Xfce.

Furthermore, Ubuntu is hardly the candidate for iPhone Linux:

First of all, it violates the GPL and FOSS by including proprietary software, creating a legal mess if we port it.

Second, it is a desktop distribution and would do much more poorly than a purpose-designed linux, such as the one being developed right now.

And finally, Ubuntu is so watered down that it barely deserves to be considered a Linux distribution itself, much less iPhone Linux.
