Hey, its me. i have a question. ok, so you all have a forum on linux for the itouch. i have been combing these threads for a way to do it, and i cant find sh*t. also, i want to ask, how can i get Ubuntu on to the itouch 1G. i have previously worked on the ubunu operating system, so i know that it can run on some mobile devices depending on the memory. the itouch 1G has 128MB of RAM and im well aware that the desktop version needs 256MB AT LEAST. this means that this would only be available on the new iphone 3GS, because it is the only of the available ipods with that much on-board memory. but is there a way to get this on the itouch? or any seperate OS?

Also, as i have previously looked up, can anyone find a way to get XUbuntu on the ipod as it needs only 128 MB to run and only uses 1.5GB of space, so it would be easier to use on an ipod with only the 8GB hard drive.

Ubuntu is the least likely candidate for iPod Touch/iPhone Linux. It doesn't run on ARM architectures, it isn't optimized for mobile platforms, it contains non-free software, etc.

This won't work, because Ubuntu needs drivers for the hardware.

There aren't any drivers for the iPod Touch.

umm... well.... The short answer is just no.
No-one has gotten anything to run but a simple linux prompt.
it has lots of potential, but i really doubt that Ubuntu will ever run on any kind of mobile iDevice. Android, maybe. But not Ubuntu.
