If you haven't seen the videos floating around already, there are two videos from two different developers.

    Geohot's video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__TR86PLiHw

    Comex's video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7DU8XMKWRE

Both videos show an iPod Touch 3G untethered, but I noticed in Geohot's video, the iPod Touch 3G screen flashes white while booting up. This is not present in Comex's video. This leads me to think that they might have different exploits, what do you think?

    Another thing:

Geohot's untethered device takes about 25 seconds to boot up while Comex's device only takes about 17.

Oh anything is possible, you do make a good point though. But it could possibly mean that they both have the same exploit but one is cleaner than the other in how it works. But from I've heard they both are at the same level, which unfortunately isn't iBoot.

I think you might be onto something here.
    Only time will tell, however.

Maybe so, but there are both userland if anything.

I believe the exploits they have are the same.

Only Comex's is userland. As it installs through Safari, as jailbreak.me did before it.

Hm... could someone explain how a "userland" untethered exploit would work?
    ------------------double post merged------------------
He said on his twitter it isn't installing through Safari.

As afar as I know, it;s the same exploit. They're probably just two different methods of applying it.

Oh ok, thanks for that clarification.

Well a userland jailbreak is based off of an exploit in an actual firmware rather than the hardware. So it can just easily be patched as it was found, but it would be untethered just as anyother jailbreak, just the promise of a jailbreak on the following firmwares is dwindling.

While an iBoot level jailbreak is more hardware based and can lead to a permanent method to jailbreak(for the moment until bootloaders or hardware are changed), which at the moment we do not have.

    1. Because they probably apply it with a different way.
    2. I guess the code they wrote to exploit it is different.
