    The Idea.

Two Off Topic Sections. One for your regular off-topic discussions, and one for your help related questions and concerns.

    The Reason.

I feel that some people won't post help for others if it doesn't result in gratification. A simple "Thank You" may not be enough for people, where as 3 or 4 extra posts might act as an incentive for users to help one another.

    The Plan.

    Off-Topic Section - Fun.

This is where we'd post our normal, general off-topic stuff.
    • "How's the weather?"
    • "Do you like pizza?"
    • "Lounge Thread."
Post count does not increase here - It is simply a place to have fun.

    Off-Topic Section - Help.

Here, people can post questions which need answering. These questions would need to be serious and not something which could be answered in the fun section, e.g: "How many Harry Potter books have been written?"

    Suitable questions would be:
    • "How do I remove this virus?"
    • "My computer is stuck at its POST screen. Help please?"
    • "My Nokia N90 won't unlock. Has anyone had this problem who can help?"

Post counts increase here - But you could limit it to something like... Maximum of 10 posts a day.

    Thoughts?

not a bad idea. But y should we only b alowwed to post 10 times a day in it. It should b only the first 10 count and after that they don't. But we can post as much as we want.

I'd just say to leave it the same since most of the "How's Your Weather" posts go in the Lounge Thread and there aren't that many off-topic questions I've seen.

Also, it'd be a lot more work for moderators (the few that actually do "work") to move off-topic questions to the off-topic forum.

bgizzle said that this weekend he would be expanding the off topic sections to have more discussion sub-forums.

    Wahooo.
I know it's not true - But in my mind, I like to think I was the cause of the extra subtopics.

having 2 off topics would make just twice as much off topic chats..... And soon enough threads would be openened on the wrong section .....

Now this is a great news ... And hope to see the results soon enough

At another forum I go to, there is a section for "Forum Games". We had a "Count ot a Million" thread that is very similar to your Lounge thread, and it was getting out of hand, some people's abuse of it. So, problem solved. New section with no post count.

Some other things that go in there (It's actually pretty active, compared to other sections of the same forum) include Story Time (One person starts "Once upon a time..." and then people continue adding their own sentences), Post your paste button, Word Association, Type your name with your elbow, Describe the person above you, etc.

This sounds ~about the same as that, and I just want Bgizzle/others to know that stuff like this does work out very well.

I hope this happens, I have offered help many times on non-ipod related issues in the off-topic section.
