i already have A Media folder in private/var/root, and Symlinks still fails!! i have a bunch of sub-folders in the Media folder, can i get rid of them?
No, just run the manual commands from the first post of this thread to set up the symlinks. No sense risking messing anything up if the automatic method isn't working.
ok, im not too expierienced with vt-100, but i tried it. heres what it shows right now Last login: Sat May 17 16:46:45 on ttyp0 $ cp -R /private/var/root/Media /private/var/mobile (in otherwords, the 1st step) cp: cannot overwrite directory /private/var/mobile/Media with non- directory /private/var/root/Media so i think i did something wrong?
You probably already have that symlink, but no matter. Disregard the error and continue on with the next step.
did u login as root? if u didnt, thats the problem just type in: login root then when it asks for password put in alpine and it should work
ok, i entered the rest of the commands, 1 got an error but i figured i'd keep going since that is what you said to do before then installed customize 10.22 or whatever the current version is) and the theme pack. now im in the never ending death loop. the iPod stays on for around 10 seconds and then crashes, briefly shows the apple boot logo and then goes to spring board and a pop up appears tellin me how to customize my home screen (message with the january software package) f***. just when my ipod was being PERFECT. ill probly do a complete restore tommorow morning...
Do you have to ssh everything or can you download images off of installer? Sorry, I'm new to this and 1.1.4(brand new iphone)...my previous iPhone had 1.1.2 but it kinda sunk in the toilet...
Sorry it messed up for you. The commands can be tricky If you would like, I can remotely connect to your machine and run the commands for you. Just let me know when you get it up and running again.
That actually wasn't the problem here. If it had just said that it wasn't able to, then yes, but it said that it couldn't overwrite a directory with a non-directory. I think that means that symlink was already there.
