This is only for iPod touch 2g.

    THIS ONLY WORKS ON MAC.

    Download this file:

    http://www.2shared.com/file/6835849/c7b62e8a/iBootn72apRELEASE.html

Next, find your 3.0 IPSW, change it from .ipsw to .zip and then double click. Go into the IPSW's folder and navigate to /Firmware/all_flash/all_flash.n72ap.production and replace the iBoot file in there with the one I provided. After that, close the window and then open up the IPSW folder again, press "COMMAND - A" and right click, then press "Compress <firmware name>." That will make a file called Archive.zip. Just rename that file to Verbose.ipsw

Next, get your redsn0w application and right click then click on duplicate.(just to be safe) Next, right click on the duplicated redsn0w and click "Show Package Contents." Navigate to the folder called "MacOS" and open that keys.plist in "TextEdit"

Next, press "Command F" and search for "n72ap"

Scroll down to the part that says "sha1" and keep that window open.

Now, search for an application called "Terminal" and do these commands:

    cd ~/Desktop (press enter)
    openssl sha1 <drag and drop the "Verbose.ipsw" here>

Now, whatever Terminal gives you as the sha1, take that sha1 and replace it with the one you just found in Keys.plist, then save that file.

Lastly, run the modified redsn0w, select "Verbose.ipsw" and MOST IMPORTANTLY UNCHECK "Install Cydia." DO NOT INSTALL CYDIA IF ALREADY INSTALLED.

Let redsn0w do it's thing and when it reboots, you will have a verbose boot.

    So that's it. Enjoy, guys.

WARNING: This verbose iBoot OVERRIDES RECOVERY MODE. THEREFORE MEANING THAT IT BREAKS RECOVERY MODE. If you want to restore your verbose'd device in iTunes, you must use DFU mode or it will not work.

This should work on Windows, right?

Oh, doesn't require a restore. Time to test this out.

It SHOULD work on Windows, though I haven't tested it. Please report back what happens. Thanks.

Also, if you're willing, post a Windows tutorial in this thread and I'll put it in the original post.

Doing this for Windows shouldn't be too different than for a Mac.

Brother's on the desktop, though. Can't do it right now.

Basically, when your iPod boots, it shows all the commands that the kernel is outputting on your screen. It's really cool.

It's like, instead of the apple logo, a bunch of code runs down your screen.

It's basically just going into the firmware, dragging a file out, then running redsn0w
