How to Turn Backlighting Off on your iPod Touch or iPhone

Please Register or Log in to view images

To turn your iPod's backlighting all the way off, ssh into your iPod or iPhone and go to /applications/preferences.app/ and then open brightness.plist in your text editor. Then locate the text <interger>0.01</interger>. Replace 0.01 with 0. And then launch your Settings app and adjust the brightness slider all the way down to turn your backlighting off.
    Congrats!

I know it's not exactly THAT helpful... but it is in the long run for a long trip.

Yeah I can but I need someone's repo. All you do is just replace the brightness.plist with the one with the edited value.

i dont think its always <integer>0.1</integer>

im pretty sure it depends on the brightness you have your iPoT set at.

No.. that would be the default string. This is the minimum the brightness can be set at. Anyone with a brain could figure this out.. but I'm not implying anyone is dumb.
