This is a tethered jailbreak for the iPod Touch 2nd Generation using Chris Stroud's amazing and easy to use, RedTool ...

    Step 1)
The files you will need are:

    LibUSB - http://www.sendspace.com/file/wox3km

    2.1.1 ipsw - http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
    (iPod Touch 2G- 2.1.1/5F138)

    2.2.1 ipsw - http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
    (iPod Touch 2G- 2.2.1/5H11a)

    RedTool - http://www.sendspace.com/file/g0d0s7

SAVE THEM AND EXTRACT THEM TO YOUR DESKTOP

Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 or above - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en

INSTALL MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0+ IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY.. OTHERWISE, REDTOOL WON'T RUN
    Step 2)
    install LibUSB------
For XP Users - double click and install
For Vista Users- right click> properties>compatibility (tab)>run in compatibility mode for> Windows XP Service pack 2

    Step 3)
    Open RedTool
    Click 'Jailbreak my iPod'

    Step 4)
    Browse for 2.1.1 ipsw
    Browse for 2.2.1 ipsw
Check 'Install cydia' and 'install installer'
    Click 'BUILD IPSW'

If you've already made your own, just browse for your CustomFW.ipsw

    Step 5)
Follow steps to put your device into DFU mode
Let the program apply the patch

    Step 6)
    When iTunes opens,
Hold Shift, click Restore to Custom Firmware (either located on your desktop, or inside the RedTool folder, under 'RedTool Bundle', then under 'CustomFW'...

    Step 7)
    close and open RedTool

    Step 8)
    click 'Boot my iPod'

    Step 9)
Follow steps to put your iPod into DFU mode

    Step 10)
Let the program apply the patch, and watch your iPod boot up!!!

    Step 11)
    Sync with iTunes

Step 12) Whenever your iPod turns off, or you try to reboot, and it won't turn on... Do steps 8-10 and Voila!

    -----------------------------------------------

The current version of RedTool is 0.98
Version 1.0 will allow portable usage, meaning you can access the files through flash drive, etc.
Version 1.0 will also remove the need for installing LibUSB.

    ENJOY

Guys, to get it into DFU mode, don't do all of the seconds it has for the home button and only go until you here the connection sound and wait 5 seconds after that.

Also, don't forget to turn it off first!

BTW, I hope people will autually use the video. Explains more than TuT.

Also, thanks for supplying what you need to do to install libusb in video and tut. I see many people ask that.
