So I've seen that many people are asking on how to find out whether their device is a 3rd or 2nd generation. Here's a little guide on how to distinguish that. 1. If your device is 64GB, then it is a 3rd generation. Just a little hint, to save further trouble. Please Register or Log in to view images 2. If it is a 32 or 8GB, do this. -Open Settings -Scroll to General, Tap it -Tap About -Scroll down to Model -If the Model is MC, then it is a 3rd Generation device If you have an iPhone 3GS, the second method will apply to you. If the device is MC and running 3.1.3 firmware, It is currently NOT jailbreakable, unless you downgrade to 3.1.2 using Coca Cola's method, you can jailbreak, but it will be tethered. Note: 3G 8GB MC Model iPods are actually 2G, and have a tethered jailbreak. 8GB iPods MB Model have an untethered jailbreak. Thanks to Ouchy_S and Chamilism for pointing this out. Download your 3.1.2 jailbreak at blackra1n.com. Underneath the picture, click the icon for your appropriate OS. Thanks for reading. Screenshots coming soon. DO NOT restore, if the connect to iTunes screen comes up. Just hit 'make it ra1n' in blackra1n!
