    Needed:
    Blackra1n RC3
    iPhone/iPod Touch With 4.0 Betas
    3.1.3.ipsw for your device.

First, put your device into DFU mode. Next option restore to the 3.1.3 ipsw. It should give you an error (1505 I think) and it will enter recovery mode. After that run blackra1n rc3 and the iPhone will go to a black screen. Hold down the home button and the power button until it restarts. Then when it turns on iTunes will activate it.

Note: this will not jailbreak your device. This I'd also an alternative to jkk's tutorial

Yeah; my tutorial was made for iPhones, whose baseband is upgraded.

I tried this with my iPod (before the guide was written); it works great. Just be sure to get it into DFU.

well... yes it is, but it was refurbished so it is untethered and has all the plus's of a non MC model. but this should work on any iDevice.

just like to point out, well your option might be simpler but, you could also use iREB's recovery mode fixer and get it out of recovery. that's how I downgraded to 3.1.2 on my iPhone( Gave me error 1xxx after it was done so I just started it up without Apple's permission.)
