    (HAVE NOT TRIED MYSELF)
This has not been tryed but it just uses the emails to send it so it should work.

1.Put the mail.app of your ipod (check out other tutorials to find out how to get it working so you can send and recieve emails)

2.Teleflip.com now provides this wonderful service. To use teleflip just email the SMS message to the following email address:

Just change the "1112223333" to the mobile number of the recipiant

3.Hopefully if you have set up the mail.app to send emails then it should send at the recipient should recieve the message as a sms (WARNING:in the topic from a phone tech website, it says that

Hope this works its simple enough as well as there is a way to send sms through AIM if anyone wants to know as well.
This is really easy and i only posted this because i see way too many topics on "when will the sms.app be working" and "when will it be modified to send sms"

    Edit

Or another way is to visit this website and change the provider to which one the recipient is on and enter the hole phone number using this web based sms sender.

Could be easier for some people but then again it may not be as you need to input the mobile network of the recipient.

    For example, Verizon is 5555555555@VTEXT.COM

That means that because you are basically sending an email to a phone, the phone recieves it as a text message and normal texting fees occur to the phone user.

If your talking about server for your sms then it will be your network company like Verizon.
But if your talking about how to send sms by email looks at my post under edit i've put a second part this time just using safari on the IpoT.

Yes if you look up the carrier's web address. No, if you use teleflip.
