Hello! I just bought a 3GS and I've been hearing a lot of bad things about SAR values and radiation.

I don't want to have my iPhone on Airplane mode every time I want to play games without being over-affected, so I was just wondering if turning off the 3G Network would reduce the SAR rating?

Yes, I am a coward. Please help me.

Then could I get it closer to the 0.52 mark by turning off 3G? That's what I'm wondering about.

I would think that using 3G instead of EDGE would make it lower since 3G is supposed to be more efficient, I'm not 100% sure though, we need to get a physicist in on this.

If your that worried, dont go near a computer, wireless router, or anywhere were you can get 3G reception. Its basically a hoax, all this crying about phones giving you cancer. Sure the radiation could hypothetically, but no more than being near a microwave oven, cell towers, power lines, transformers or anything that emits electromagnetic radiation. So stop being so susceptible to media propaganda

Well, I don't carry my microwave oven with me 8 hours a day, but I don't know about you?

Sure, radiation might just be a propaganda trend, but why take the risk. I'm not saying I wanna get away from radiation completely, I'm just saying if, IF, the radiation issues actually are real and the doubters are wrong, why not at least try to reduce the risks? Could somebody please just answer the question instead of saying "Whatever man. I don't believe it so it's not true." when I'm trying to ask a question. I ain't gonna be releaved just because some iPhone owner in potential denial says so.
