When you just push the top left button on the itouch it locks it and puts it to sleep but still plays music music. so when I'm not using my itouch should I hold the button down to turn it completely off?

i don't know the details on this
putting it to sleep still uses some battery, at least the slightest bit.
but if you're not gonna use it for a long period of time
you should turn it all the way off by holding it down.
but you just got it, why wouldn't you use it!

apparently because you are shutting off the os you have to do a full reboot next time you turn on so i think it should take up some battery life

I just pause my music and put it to sleep...its the fastest way to access it the next time!

in my expirience, putting it to sleep saved battery power for me rather than just turning it off, because when i turned it back on, it had to reboot, and that used alot more of my battery power.
