So I want to jailbreak my 3.1.2 2nd generation ipod touch on a mac os x 10.4.11.

I got pwnagetool 3.1.4 and I made the installer package.

Now am I just able to go into dfu mode and shift-restore?

I'm asking this because on the website it says next to 2g ipod "Use PwnageTool to create a firmware image and restore with that .ipsw to your already jailbroken device using iTunes."

Is this saying this only works if you have an already jailbroken ipod?

Also on videos it showed the program showing how to get into dfu mode. I know how to get in it, but im wondering why that isn't happenening on mine.

look on your old post i accidentally posted and also nothing happens on the screen when you go into DFU mode will show up in itunes as ipod found in recovery mode. also on quickfreedom it will show a video on how to get into dfu mode and than get in to their recovery mode a white screen means its working just folow the directions quickfreedom is a 2.2.1 jailbreak but you can use the recovery mode into tricking the firmware that your jailbroken. but seeing as it is a windows program you will have to do it on windows here. http://quickfreedom.com/

Hmm, nevermind I got blackra1n to work now. Earlier when I tried it wouldnt load on my computer, haha. I found it for anyone else wondering though, pwnagetool for ipod touch 2g is only for upgrading an already jailbroken ipod touch.
