He's on 3.1.2, and 9.0.2 of iTunes. I had him restart the computer and restore the iPod. He's on XP. When he clicks "make it rain," it just stays on "waiting for device." I had him replug in the iPod but nothing happened. What does he need to do??

Yes, iTunes recognizes his iPod, and no, it was closed. I even had him switch USB ports, and kill all Apple related services. When that didnt't work, i had him start back up the Apple mobile device service which I saw in another thread... So I'm completely clueless as to what's going on...

This happened to me to! I just used OS X to do it instead! However, have you tried removing and reinstalling Blackra1n on his PC? Maybe that will help.

Actually yeah, I had him download and run it, and after that didn't work I had him download and save it so that way he could run it as an admin, but I forgot he has XP, which doesn't really have that option.

    It's a tethered jailbreak.
Are you correctly running the tethered process?
Click "Make it rain", wait for the iPod to show the iTunes logo. (May take about a minute).
Next un-plug the iPod from your computer and wait for it to turn off. (May take another few minutes.)
Next re-plug the iPod back in, and close iTunes once it pops up. Itunes will detect the iPod needs a recovery, click cancel and close iTunes.
Next, re-run Blackra1n. Your iPod should now boot up successfully after a minute or two's wait.
