First thing...uninstall any summerboard you have installed now, if any.

then, create a symlink from /var/root/Library to /var/mobile/Library

this can be achieved by connecting to the ipod through ssh using putty or terminal in winscp and typing the following commands(commands in bold)

    cp -R /private/var/root/Library /private/var/mobile/

    rm -r /private/var/root/Library

    ln -s /private/var/mobile/Library /private/var/root/Library

then change to the /var/root directory to ensure the symlink is set properly

    cd /private/var/root

    ls -la

you should see this listing in the list

    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 27 Jan 29 14:42 Library -> /private/var/mobile/Library

then, drop the attached SMBPrefs.app into /Applications

one last thing, change permissions on the /Applications folder

    chmod -R a+x /Applications/*

then reboot the ipod using the reboot command

    reboot

    lemme know how it goes

If I'm not mistaken, it only APPEARS as if nothing is being typed (for sercurity reasons). Just type alpine and press enter.

i think he means to use the terminal that is IN WinSCP, not on the ipot itself

I'm using Terminal as in the app that comes with Mac

I just wanna make sure this won't affect future things I do with the ipot with the symlink being created and all. I don't want SMB that bad. lol.

Well, I did it and I can see my themes and everything, however they won't install. I got to apply them and I respring/restart my ipod and it doesn't apply my theme. It makes me mad, but someone will figure it out eventually. Thanks for your help anyway
