    Hi,

My iphone 4 is jailbroken running 4.0.1 with the shsh's on cydia and on my pc.
I've followed guides to the letter on restoring properly using tinyumbrella and downloading and selecting the right firmwares and i even understand that at the end of the process an error message is supposed to appear saying "unable to connect to itunes error 3001" in my case.

However, once powering the iphone 4 back on after restore, it's exactly the same. nothing is deleted. It's still jailbroken. If it keeps automatically restoring from a backup, shouldnt the jailbroken stuff atleast dissapear or am i missing something here?

Im not trying to upgrade or downgrade firmwares, i just want to wipe my iphone clean, basically back to how i got it from apple on 4.0.1.

    any help is really appreciated.

Check your hosts file in C://WINDOWS/System32/drivers/etc/hosts

See if it is how it should be then just press restore.

Try recovery mode. Or DFU mode.

Yea to enter recov mode hold both lock and home buttons until it shuts off and release the lock button when the apple logo appears, then it'll say connect to iTunes

To enter DFU mode do the same but keep both help down, the screen should be kept blank but the comp will recognize it

    Hope that helps!

My phone is basically stuck on a black screen, my iphone 4 wont turn on. its being recognised by itunes and asking me to restore it, but I get a "3194" error every time i try to restore now. I think my only choice is 4.1

There's nothing really wrong with 4.1, and you get game center...plus, SHAtter will be released (somewhat) soon most likely..

Besides, can't you jailbreak 4.1 already with sn0wbreeze or redsn0w?
