So I have way too many songs on my iPod Touch, and I want to delete some of them. But then I found the only way to do that is to remove it from your iTunes library. So I'm wondering if I can delete songs via SSH...Can I? Can I do it safely?

you can but it will be a pain knowing what song you're deleting.
and they will still show up on your ipod, just not play.

I think I may just add all the songs and things I want to playlists...

Easy. Just uncheck all the songs you don't want in iTunes and select "only sync checked songs" for your iPod.

this keeps the song in your itunes library while deleting from your ipod
it will also keep itunes from playing the song on shuffle unless you select it (im pretty sure about that part at least)
