At this point, try a different computer. It doesn't matter where the IPSW is located. You could even copy it onto a flash drive, along with redsn0w, and try Pwned DFU and use the IPSW on someone else's computer (if it has iTunes).

If you wanted to update to 5.1.1 last resort, after trying other computers doesn't work, you would just click Restore in iTunes without choosing an IPSW.

Yes, you can restore to an iCloud backup from any firmware.

If switching computers doesn't work is there any other solution? Any idea on how long until 5.1.1 is jailbroken?

5.1.1 is already jailbroken tethered with redsn0w 0.9.11b4, and an untether is set to release within a couple of weeks.

I had a similar problem where I had all sorts of difficulties trying to restore to 5.0.1

I believe I fixed it by stitching my blobs and restoring on Pwned DFU mode. If you get an error all the way at the end of the restoring process (meaning you get it go through most of the way, and kicks you out at the last second), you can fix it by letting it complete until the error, then kicking it out of recovery mode using TinyUmbrella.

Again, this is just me trying to remember how I fixed it. I'll do some more searching on how I fixed it in a bit if you haven't solved this problem by then.

Tethered just means that if you reboot the device the jailbreak won't load if it's not plugged in, right?

Tried on new PC, same 1600 error. Think I'll just upgrade to 5.1.

Tethered means it won't turn on unless you boot tethered with redsn0w. Semitethered means when you reboot, it wont be jailbroken until you boot tethered with redsn0w. To install SemiTether (trust me, you want to) add the source to Cydia: "http://thebigboss.org/semitether" and install the SemiTether package.

That's fine. I rarely have to reboot unless it puts itself in safe mode. 5.1.1 here I come :(

Do I just update through apple, restore from icloud, then re-jailbreak with the latest redsn0w and it will remove my old jailbreak and put the new one on?
