Treyarch Confirms Mod Tools For Black Ops

    Infinity Ward irked PC gamers when it launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 without dedicated servers or mod tools.

    Treyarch is making a massive effort to correct that mistake. The publisher previously confirmed dedicated servers for Black Ops, and today it stated that the game will be opened up to modding.

    On the Call of Duty: Black Ops forum, a developer from Treyarch posted as a pcdev to make an official announcement this afternoon. Exactly when and to what extent modding will be available is still unclear, but it is something the developer plans to focus on post-launch.

    Though dedicated servers have not been officially announced, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia has made it clear it's something he wants. In a May interview with PC Zone Lamia said:

    Call of Duty: Black Ops is set to ship on November 9.

    I think this would be cool to an extent. Like modding wouldn't give the modder an advantage over everyone.
