    Hello,

I fully Jailbreaked my iPod. Put on Notes and other iPhone apps. But those are English only apps.

So i tried to open the .app (just like i do with OSX apps) and created a Dutch.lproj map and tried to translate the English file to Dutch.
But the .strings file isn't a normal .strings file like on OSX.

It seems like the file is compiled or something. Because when i change for example 'Done' to 'Klaar' and upload the language map to the iPod the Language is all messed up.
It then doesn't even load the Language file. When i put the unaltered English file in my Dutch map the program loads just fine.

I also tried to translate it with iLocalize but that also didn't work.

Anyone in here has some ideas how to translate the files?

The days in the Weather app were already translated to Dutch at my iPod...
It just reads the days from the Calendar app i guess...

You have the main iPod language set to French?

But what about the files i was talking about? Anyone has an idea? Maybe some hacker?

But odd enough, they (Apple) have translated Notes title at the Home screen, in my case it's named 'Noter'. And the calender app is fully translated to Danish (incl. the Add button)

Greetings from a Danish iPod touch.

The .string file is in xml format, open with plist editor, otherwise the change won't be successful.

you can convert .string (or .plist) file to ASCII file.
ASCII file easily open in notepad.
The touch can read ASCII file whitout problem.

Thanks m8! That did the trick...

Now i have Notes and Weather fully translated into Dutch! Maybe i'll do Mail and Maps also...

If any operator sees this: Maybe its an idea to create a sticky "iPhone Application Translation Topic". Then i will start off uploading my Dutch language for other people to use...
