I have read some other threads on this but they didn't fully answer my question. I'm getting a new computer and I want to be able to back up my iTunes library, including, music, ebooks and apps that are stored in the library at present. Can this be done? I don't want to plug my iPod into my new comp and have everything on it get deleted! The other posts I read discussed music but not apps and ebooks.

This is what I would do, navigate to the folder where your iTunes library is stored and copy it all, save it to an external hard drive. Once you get the new comp and install iTunes, simply paste your library in place of the existing empty one and there you go!
