ipod touch wont turn on after replacing digitizer, the only thing that went wrong when I took it apart was the tape on the battery caused the foil around the battery to rip. Would ripping the foil around the battery make the battery stop working completely. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Advice: Don't take apart your iPod Touch for no reason.

You sure you didn't rip a ribbon cable? That would cause your problem.

Hmm...If the film around the battery looks as if it's purpose was to simply support the battery, then the battery should be operating as expected. As stated above, make sure your ribbon cables were not affected. That is what supplies EVERYTHING to the screen.

there was an oder that came from inside the foil which leads me to believe the foil is more than just a casing for the batter, but part of the battery?????

That shouldn't cause a problem. To turn it on for the first time, after you have taken it apart. Plug in in the docking cable and then turn it on. It should come on.
