In the process of me non-professionally attempting to remove my digitizer with a flathead screwdriver rather than a safe open tool, I f***ed something up.

I managed to fix the backlight on my iPod by unplugging the LCD ribbon cable and plugging it back in again; this is not the issue.

In the process of removing the digitizer, I cracked it a few good times, and now my touch screen is non-responsive, even when the digitizer ribbon cable is in and everything is back together.

    Here is my question:
Is the LCD screen itself the touch screen or is the digitizer totally responsible for the touch?
    Sounds dumb, but...

No, your partly right, I believe that it is the digitizer mostly responsible for it. You'll probably need a new digitizer

Ughh... any common solutions to a non-responsive digitzer?
The ribbon cable is plugged in and it doesnt look like too much damage other than the cracked glass, but that shouldnt be a problem.

I shouldove just left my backlight f***ed and called it a win, now I'm out $200

    $200? Not necessarily.

If you 'cracked it a few good times' then you've probably wrecked the detector-matrix-w/e thing. You've really no other option than a new one.

On the plus side, you've got a good as new, scratch free screen!

Okay, it turns out that the LCD must be fried, because it just reverted to no backlight and apparently its permanent now cause now not even unplugging/replugging the ribbon cable works.

So, buy a new digitizer + new LCD, or just front the $200 for a new iPt?
